Frequently asked questions from our Rangers' parents

What entity or group is behind the race?

The race is organised by Club Deportivo Ultra Trail Sierra Blanca (@CDUTSB) in collaboration with the Marbella Town Hall, Delegación de Deportes.

Who guarantees or regulates the safety of this race?

This race is endorsed by the Andalusian Federation of Mountain Sports, Climbing and Hiking (FADMES), which authorises its celebration and the routes to be completed.

What experience does this group have in organising mountain events?

The management of the Club Deportivo Ultra Trail Sierra Blanca has more than 25 years of experience in the organisation of sporting events, especially mountain races. Currently, the club is responsible for the organisation of the Sierra Blanca Marbella mountain race, which has been consolidated for a decade with great success among trail lovers, and the Marbella Epic Trail, a mountain ultra which, after only two editions, has been endorsed and recognised by the Andalusian Federation of Mountain Sports, Climbing and Hiking (FADMES).

What safety measures does this event offer in case of accident or discomfort?

The event has an accident and civil liability insurance that covers both participants and volunteers. In addition, we have medical assistance throughout the race and an ambulance available to attend to any emergency immediately.

Where does the race take place?

The race takes place in the town of Marbella, province of Malaga, with the start and finish line located in Albinoni street, passing through the Nagüeles park in the direction of the Marbella auditorium. The finish line of the race is at the same location as the start.

Until when can I register my child?

Registration for Sierra Blanca Rangers is open until 04 April 2025, or until all the bibs are sold out.

What is the registration fee?

Registrations are priced at 9€ for children up to 5 years old and 12€ - 15€ for all other ages, depending on whether the runner is federated or not.

Can I bring my child to the event?

Of course, the event is designed so that parents can spend a day in nature with their children and accompany them in their enjoyment of trail running and has various activities.

Can I accompany them during the race?

It is not possible to accompany or assist children during the race, as this would impede their circulation on the trails. For any type of assistance, our organisation has volunteers trained in this type of event to look after the participants, as well as an ambulance service and assistance from the Civil Protection and Local Police.

The only categories in which the accompaniment of parents or family members will be allowed during the race are the categories Pollitos and Inclusiva.

In case of an accident or illness, how safe is this event?

Our event has medical assistance during the race and at the end of the event, as well as an ambulance with a nurse at the disposal of our participants.

How do I know my child won't get lost?

The routes of our race will be properly marked, and at critical points of the race there will be volunteers dedicated to any necessary assistance. In addition, runners' race bibs contain a chip for timing and tracking.

Does the event include any kind of food or snacks for participants?

Yes, registration for the event includes access for runners to a refreshment point at the finish line, with food and drink suitable for the sport.

What equipment should children bring?

The only compulsory equipment for the race is the race bib, which must be worn in a visible place throughout the race. In addition, participants should wear comfortable sports clothing and suitable mountain footwear.

Recommended equipment:

One day before the event, and according to the criteria of the FADMES, the organisation may request additional compulsory material depending on the weather conditions...

How long does the event last?

The event starts at 9:00 a.m. with the bib pick-up for the cadet category. The first start is scheduled for 9:30 am, and the day concludes at around 2:00 pm, with the last prize-giving ceremony.

Do all the children have to arrive at 9:00 h?

No, each participant must arrive at least 30 minutes before the start of their category. In this way, we avoid unnecessary wear and tear, especially for the youngest participants and in the inclusive category.
